It’s been awhile. My weekly posts have taken a back seat to life. This year has started out a little hectic. It’s already been a rollercoaster and we are just getting started. Some great things have happened already: several babies have been born that I’ll at least get to watch grow through social media, the Women’s March has created a movement (and there’s enough of us that we each can take breaks without the momentum coming to a halt), the courts overruled 45’s ridiculous Muslim ban (call it what it was), artwork has been plentiful, citizens are engaged, and comedy sketches are making you laugh again. For all of that, I am thankful. Another big bonus is that journalism is doing its job again. When we have a government that is counting on cover-ups and late-night, shady rulings we need our journalists and reporters to keep it real. To get dirty. To offer up what they are trying to hide. Because of that, Flynn has resigned. Flynn, who has undeniable ties to Russia and called Russian leaders to let them know sanctions would be lifted once trump was in office, has resigned. It also came to light, in a way even republicans can no longer deny, that those working on trumps campaign where in contact with Russian leaders throughout its course. I can only wonder what it is they were talking about. Hmm. While this is all taking place we have Donald tweeting about how the leaks are what is wrong, not what the leaks revealed. And then we have him telling us this is all to distract from the mistakes Hillary made on the campaign trail; and then we have him stating that the media is the enemy of the American people. First, trump knew of Flynn’s phone call long before he resigned. He resigned because the public found out and that is it. That entire administration knew what was happening and they’re all a bunch of corrupt businessmen. Second, this has absolutely nothing to do with Hillary Clinton. Sure, the vast majority of America would prefer her over him but we’ve moved on. Now we just want a president who isn’t going to pick away at our democracy piece by piece. And obviously the media is not the enemy of the people. Give me a break. While our lovely president did wish his enemies (those that oppose him) a Happy New Year to start 2017 off on a high note, it’s not the media we need to worry about. Anyone with a working and functioning brain can distinguish between fake news and truth. Just because you do not agree with something doesn’t make it fake. I do wish that were the case in many situations, but it’s not. Sad!
Alternative facts, a.k.a complete fabrications, is what makes “news” fake. Fake news: Bowling Green Massacre during Obama’s administration. Actual fact: massacre in 1643 at a territory that is now known as Bowling Green Park in NYC.
Oh and I almost forgot: the most hilarious part of 2017 so far, (and when I say “hilarious” I mean laugh instead of cry, laugh instead of thinking about it too much, laugh and then brush it off and get to work “hilarious”) miraculously, is not that a known white supremacist is now sitting in at the NSC. And no, it’s not that Conway introduced us to “alternative facts” or tried to plug Ivanka’s products. And we can’t even laugh about DeVos or Sessions, so it’s definitely not that. Oh and we are learning more about Stephen Miller. How dreadful is that guy? I find it fascinating that we are the same age and he doesn’t have a bone in his body that isn’t filled with hate. It seeps out of his eyes, you hear it in his voice, he has no shame in his level of hate. Unfortunately if he sticks around for too long I’m afraid future generations will be learning about him as the behind-the-scenes dictator coordinating a lot of this mess. Whoever is in that White House next I hope they do a thorough cleaning to get all those hate vibes out of there. Open a window, let some sunshine in for Christ’s sake. But none of that was as hilarious to me as the fact that Trump has officially kicked off his 2020 campaign. That’s right. Just shy of a month as president and he’s already casting his bid for reelection. If he wants Pence to run the show while he’s off entertaining crowds then let’s just impeach him and be done with it. Are we still stuck with Bannon and Miller though? And DeVos and Sessions? Probably, but at least we get rid of the figure-head.
Oh, wait–I almost forgot–another thing that has kept me entertained this last week is that (allegedly) two people have turned down the offer to fill Flynn’s position as National Security Advisor. They declined due to new staffing structure and trump’s press conference. It wasn’t an error that I didn’t mention that presser–it’s so embarrassing I’m trying to forget about it. And no surprise that military generals find it a bit peculiar that alcoholic-in-chief Bannon has a seat in the NSC. No one in their right mind wants in on this corrupt administration. But someone will fill that spot. We should learn about it sometime this week. And I’m sure it’ll be someone who trump can “trust.”
But I’m supposed to give him a chance, right? These damn liberals are making people flee to Trump even more! It’s always the fault of those damn leftists. Yeah, it’s been a comical start to a new year. And, again, when I say “comical,” I mean laugh before you suffocate. Luckily there are some great posts circulating the social media world and one has popped up several times answering the “why don’t you give him a chance” question.
And I’ll leave it at that:
“I listened as they called my President a Muslim.
I listened as they called him and his family a pack of monkeys.
I listened as they said he wasn’t born here.
I watched as they blocked every single path to progress that they could.
I saw the pictures of him as Hitler.
I watched them shut down the government and hurt the entire nation twice.
I watched them turn their backs on every opportunity to open worthwhile dialog.
I watched them say that they would not even listen to any choice for Supreme Court no matter who the nominee was.
I listened as they openly said that they will oppose him at every turn.
I watched as they did just that.
I paid attention.
Now, I’m being called on to be tolerant.
To move forward.
To denounce protesters.
To “Get over it.”
To accept this…
I will not.
I will do my part to make sure this great American mistake becomes the embarrassing footnote of our history that it deserves to be.
I will do this as quickly as possible every chance I get.
I will do my part to limit the damage that this man can do to my country.
I will watch his every move and point out every single mistake and misdeed in a loud and proud voice.
I will let you know in a loud voice every time this man backs away from a promise he made to them.
Them. The people who voted for him.
The ones who sold their souls and prayed for him to win.
I will do this so that they never forget.
And they will hear me.
They will see it in my eyes when I look at them.
They will hear it in my voice when I talk to them.
They will know that I know who they are.
They will know that I know what they are.
Do not call for my tolerance. I’ve tolerated all I can.
Now it’s their turn to tolerate ridicule.
Be aware, make no mistake about it, every single thing that goes wrong in our country from this day
forward is now Trump’s fault just as much as they thought it was Obama’s.
I find it unreasonable for them to expect from me what they were entirely unwilling to give.”
